The Leam Boat Centre in Royal Leamington Spa, commissioned me to develop their next line of hire boats based on their current design. The aim of the project was to manufacture a new fleet of rowing boats, based off of their current design. The new design needed to offer more stability and comfort to the user, while being stronger and long lasting; benefiting the rental industry.
3D scan of existing hull design:
100 Photos were taken from all angles of the hull. Autodesk Recap was used to create a 3D mesh from these photos.
Design developments on the original design involved increasing the width of the new boat design, along with adjusting seating options for easier rowing action.
Design data was used to manufacture new hull moulds in Poland as well as the wooden gunwales that are pictured below being fitted.
